this 1,435-acre Park and forest was once part of a vast area belonging to the Chickasaw Nation prior to the Jackson Purchase of 1818. Numerous miles of fire roads and trails wind through the scenic timberlands which embraces Lake Placid. The park offers 13 vacation cottages, 113 camping sites, a completely equipped lodge for up to 100 persons, hiking trail, tennis courts, basketball courts, archery range, badminton court, horseshoe pits, lighted ball field, playground, volleyball court and horseback riding in the summer. Open daily; lodge is open April through October.
