Historic Doe Creek School & Cemetery

Just 3 miles south of Scotts Hill on Doe Creek Road, you'll discover a remarkable piece of history at the Historic Doe Creek School and Cemetery. This site is home to a well-preserved one-room school, believed to be one of the oldest in the state, constructed from hand-hewn poplar logs dating back to the mid-1800s. The surrounding cemetery serves as the final resting place for both Union and Confederate soldiers. With recent renovations completed, there are hopes to have the school listed on the prestigious National Register of Historic Places.
